Movies to find if you want to see more of my town: "The End of the Golden Weather", filmed at a beach about half an hour north of my place where I used to go quite a lot (they built houses on it to make it look like a specific Auckland beach looked a few decades ago, but fortunately took them down again afterwards); "The Piano", done on Auckland's west coast; Xena and Hercules episodes, likewise; "The Navigator", with heaps of scenes in downtown Auckland and the North Shore, most of them spectacularly out of context but very artistically filmed ;-)

There's probably a lot more. If you want New Zealand in general, instead of just Auckland, well obviously there's "Lord of the Rings", plus "Willow" is a good one for South Island scenery, and something's just been filmed here with Chris O'Donnell doing mountaineering stuff (not sure what it's called). "The Frighteners" was filmed in Wellington, I think, but they tried to make it look as much like the USA as possible.
