As a child, hearing the National Anthem at ball games, I never once questioned the phrase, (as I heard it) "the dawnserly light." It wasn't until later, when I happened to read the lyrics in a chorus book, that I realized "Ohh! Dawn's early!" I had just assumed it was some sort of adjective describing dawn-type light.
