Sam, how could you do this to me? The only book on that list I knew I *couldn't* choose was The Scarlet Pimpernel, because I haven't read it yet. After some time, I decided against Robinson Crusoe, which I like, but which has somehow never given me the cold shivers that all the rest have. I was going to consider all the pros and cons of the titles on that poll list, and decide which was really my favourite.

It didn't work.

So now, hours of mental torment later, I've decided I can't answer this poll. It's impossible. It did make me go out and buy The Scarlet Pimpernel, though - the only book on the list I didn't already own. :-)
