Then about three years ago, I broke the band on my wrist watch the same day the batteries went dead, so I bought a $20 pocket watch just to use until I got home. (I think I was in California.) Ah, the joys of a pocket watch. Instant intrest by onlookers whenever I take mine out to check the time. You don't get that with a wristwatch.

Plus, I used to bang the heck out of my wristwatch. The pocket watch I can keep in my, um, pocket.
