I'm not immediately sure how Liface is bypassing it; he's either rotating his IP address manually or is going through a proxy/firewall of some sort with multiple connections to the outside world, each on their own IP address. If you're just logged in from home or something, it shouldn't register a double vote unless you disconnect and dial in a second time in the interim.
Could you add a "see results" or some suchlike funstuff to the Reader Poll to assist those of us who've dialed-in later in the day and want to see the poll results without voting again? Just today, in fact, I was about the third person to answer the poll question, and I had to vote again later today to view the results. Since I had reconnected in the middle, it logged another answer (for "ginger ale," in case you want to take it out).
