I'll ignore the "Dogma" comment and instead talk about "Fight Club". My biggest problem with that movie was that I came out of the theater completely and totally not understanding what it's intended message was. Was it really anti-violence? Certainly at the end there it seemed to be, but as long as just the fight clubs were going on it seemed to be a huge promoter of violence. Beyond that, it seemed to be anti-commercialism, but I don't think it had anything too interesting to say in that respect. David Fincher is a very good visual director, but all of his movies have this sort of murky quality to them that leaves me wondering what his point was (see particularly "The Game" or "Seven"). I think a rating of a B is probably a pretty fair one for FC.
