"off of"

I did something I don't usually do this morning. I emailed the Knoxville News-Sentinel and blasted them about their English. They used the expression "off of" instead of the correct "off" in a cutline right smack in the middle of the front page. Then on the sports page in a 36 point headline, they did it again! To use an old Tennessee expression, that was sorry editing. I had to speak up.
