Well, this seems to be a 'favorite movies' list. I haven't watched many, to be sure, especially compared with a lot of the others here at the forum, but my completely biased fav is Waking Ned Divine. Stupid gags [the scene where Jackie O'Shea and Michael O'Sullivan are messing with Ned Divine's corpse... intestines... the denture thing... tacky is good] and dry humor. *contented sigh* There were other good points-- seeing part Pig Finn's farm, the whole story there-- but none so much as setting. Yes, setting. Isle of Man. Great soundtrack (most of it) . Those were really what won me over. There's also, for us USers, a very odd ending. (I hear it's somewhat less so for Europeans, but not from the most reliable of all sources). The actors all had the cool accent thing going. I watched it a record number of times (for me)-- three. I also get a bit of exercise during it. There's a long scene (for the poor deprived readers who haven't seen it) where the camera flashes from a fairly good view of the countryside (it follows a car, but you can see hills and such) to a really old guy riding a motorcycle naked. *shudder* The exercise comes from leaning like a plant towards sunlight to the screen during the countryside parts and jerking back from the motorcycle. Sweet music, though, as I recall.
