I changed some of your wording to minimize spoilers.

For anyone working on this same problem or who might be able to help us here is a summary of where I'm at:

You do need to use the unicorn's favor at least twice and you have to bribe them at least once.

There is an order of steps so that you can win by both
only using the favor only twice and
only giving the bribe only once.

However, there are other winning step orders for which
you have to give the bribe twice or more.

I think you understood all that but I wanted to be clear.

See previous post for my ideas as to what causes them to need a second bribe.

Currently, I give the bribe right before the first use of the favor,
and I do not visit them between using the first and second favor,
and I try to minimize the steps it takes between the frist use of the favor and the second use of the favor.
This however, is not yet giving me low score.

I'm still working on it. Any additional help would be appriciated but maybe the only person who knows is the programer (Sam right?).

Sorry about all the "secret code words". I'm trying to do as little spoiling as possible.
