I used to like the dollar theatre around here (actually the ticket price is $1.50). But lately it's become much more of what I'll euphemistically call an "audience participation venue." It seems as if every time we go, we're sitting near someone who comments aloud through the entire movie. There's a fair bit of low-level background chatter too.

My white liberal education wants me to just call it a cultural difference and live with it, but dangit, what it is, is just plain bad manners. (I know, there are some movie showings where audience participation is expected, especially cult movies. But "Kung Fu Panda" isn't one of those as far as I'm concerned.)

I say, let all patrons of the dollar theatre rise up and with one voice proclaim: "We may be cheap, but we have standards!"
