Hmmm, while discussion of the Monster Arena mechanics is floating about, I would like to mention that Site Market Game's mechanics may be worth overhauling.
The last couple of games I've played (after something of an absence) and come second or third or so, but this last game was interesting - I was on holiday for the last week of the game, and after about 10th April I just left it anyway, knowing full well that I wouldn't be able to play.
Oddly, though, I finished up second despite not playing, which makes me think that in reality it isn't worth playing every day, tweaking what is owned, since the relative values is usually fairly predictable.
I think we need to inject some new dynamic into the game to keep it interesting... immediate thoughts (no real thought into implementation, just a few ideas from the real stock market)
* Twice-daily updates rather than once-daily * De-listing some of the features after a couple of days if they are consistently low-ranking (mirroring the concept of the 'top 100' in the indexes), and re-ranking them if they get above a certain level * "Scandals" - whereby a scandal for one of the entries is announced, resulting in a penalty of its value for the next few days even if the value would otherwise increase (especially if click-fraud is suspected/proven)
From an interface point of view, being able to graph timelines of several would be cool (i.e. a single graph of gametime-to-date, showing several of the scores as lines on said graph), although a bandwidth hog depending on how implemented.
Anyway, sorry for rambling, just a couple of thoughts...
