Sorry if I mention something you've already done. I think that where you need to go first is to a section of the enchanted forest and check around a couple of trees -- then you go back to the hut (you'll go around in circles a few times in this game).

If you've done that (sorry, had trouble finding your inventory), then maybe you just have the cat to deal with. At this point, you need patience. Seriously, that's how to solve the problem.
