Oh no, my 11 year old self was not that clever as to plant clues like that. There's no trick to it. No combination of moves necessary. You just have to pick the right option in the right place, and it'll work every time. You claim to have selected the correct option many times -- and there aren't that many, after all -- but apparently not in the right spot.
