When I was 12, Jim Bakker resigned after admitting to his affair with his church secretary in Charlotte, NC. We'd only moved back to Ohio from Charlotte two years before.

When I was 12, The Simpsons made their very first appearance on the Tracy Ullman Show. I never thought that they'd still be on the air twenty years later.

When I was 12, President Reagan told Mikhail Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. Little did I know that in just two years, that would actually happen.

When I was 12, my favorite TV and movie series, Star Trek, returned to television in the form of Star Trek: The Next Generation. It eventually spawned three feature length films and three more television series.

When I was 12, my computer was a Commodore 64. My first PC (and my introduction to e-mail and the internet) was still eight more years in the future. I still had no idea what I wanted to be when I grew up and if you told me that I was going to be a web site designer, my response would have probably been a blank stare.
