As long as you make sure that no monsters block the way back home, you shouldn't have too much trouble with characters dying, and even if most of your party dies, you should still get home.

From the help files: "Typically, the deeper you are in the labyrinth, the more gold you find, and the equipment you find is both better and more frequent." You're getting close to the point where you shouldn't have to worry much about money, unless your characters die frequently.
