FQ2 - Opened the gate, where to now?

Thought that getting through the gate, would open up the game again for action. No such luck. I didn't find anything inside the gated area. Should I have? Here's my inventory.

onions
small silver coin
rusty key
sack
silver key
Crown of Destiny
sap tap
bucket of sap
float ring
bottle opener
cross
coconut
pliers
iron support
red and green potions
sword
Sunstone

If I didn't miss anything inside the gate...where to now? Haven't used the green potion yet. Still have a giraffe to contend with according to the hints. Haven't seen it though. Thanks again for a subtle hint!
