You can't get the NP until you've been able to get the Fire Map. I'd advise going ahead and doing the necessary teacher tasks and getting your backpack. Now that you have the knock-out drops, you can sli Agnelo a mickey to steal another tool of his, and sneak your wriggly thing through the Bio lab to get it to Mrs. A. (Just dress up her meal first.)

You can do all that without jumping off the roof (the ladder goes both ways). Get all the teacher tasks done, get your bag, get the VP without jumping off the roof to do it, and then you will be set.
