I think you need to go back in time and get something else - but don't wash it off this time. You actually want to keep it dirty to qualify for a certain element.
As for the NP, it is NOT a recipe item. It is the means to obtain a recipe item. T____ is used as a paint thinner - to remove paint. Of course, you can't just walk up to a staff member and ask for paint remover, they'll want to know what it's for.
How would you convincingly demonstrate a need for something to remove the NP?
