I think they each probably individually try to come up with a little throwaway joke or two beforehand that they might try to work in somehow (like the ones that start with "we'll return to...[joke]...in just a moment" for the song album advertisement skits), but I absolutely believe the rest of it is made up.

Admission was one penny. The format of the show was almost identical, and lots of the same types of games were played, but it was a little more interactive -- more of the suggestions were taken from the audience. There was a LOT less room for rehearsal to help any. And let me tell you, the stuff they came up with was every bit as good as what they come up with on the TV show. I don't know how any of them do it, but some people just have a gift for improvisational comedy.

I got to have a conversation with Wayne Brady (the black guy on the show) when he performed on the Jerry Lewis Telethon. He makes up all of it on the spur of the moment (and was an incredibly sweet and generous person, btw). I also just read in interview with him in the Southwest Airlines magazine...he said that when he hears a topic, it's like a rolodex comes up in his head with words pertaining to the topic and words that rhyme with them. He's been doing this all his life, it seems. Heckuva guy.
