The 73% is for everybody, in table 2-A. Only 55% of the "very religious" category supports it, and that would include Muslims, etc.
Hey daniel78, you should lighten up and not jump down everybody's throat for everything they say.
Way to not actually check the poll too carefully. I guess you thought the page was over after Table 2-A, but if you checked *the very next table* it includes a breakdown by religion.
Liface wasn't right, but the support for embryonic stem cell research varies among Christians, with 58 percent of "born again" Christians supporting it and 77 percent of protestants supporting it (Catholics and "other Christians" are at 67 and 66 percent). I don't think it's a stretch to say that it has solid support among Christians, who make up the vast majority of people in this country. If it didn't, the Senate would not have passed the measure.
Also, please learn a thing or two about statistics and polling before you try and critique the methodology. If you can explain why the poll may be less accurate than others, then maybe we can talk about it (virtually every poll done today suffers from very similar problems, which is why all polls like that do the sort of weighting as described in the methodology section).
But I'm sure you won't bother responding to this, because you flee at the first sign of any challenge. See you in another thread! XOXO
