The important word here is "States, as in United States of America. The Virgin Islands are a territory and not a state.

But I agree on the beauty of the territory, which has few equals anywhere. Well. . . , maybe Hawaii. Or New Zealand, or the Oregon coast. And maybe the Smoky Mountains, or Grand Cayman Island, or Crater Lake or the Bahamas as seen from the air, or Big Sur, or the Green and White Mountains, or Nova Scotia, or Yellowstone Falls, or. . . . .
