While touring Kennedy Space Center in Florida the other day, I was amazed by the number of different languages I heard. There were more people speaking German than English. I heard French, Japanese and dozens of other unidentified languages. Naturally there were Spanish-speaking people. Florida is quickly becoming a Spanish speaking country. I saw Chinese people but they were speaking English. Maybe German tourist are drawn to the Cape, because it was German rocket scientists who formed the core of the early US space program. (I suppose there is a similar connection that draws Japanese tourists to Pearl Harbor.) I'm sure I saw people from the Middle East, India and Korea, even though I wouldn't recognize their languages. I guess the world is shrinking.
The people at Kennedy SFC sure know how to run a tour. I don't think I ever waited in line and there was always a bus waiting to go to the next stop. The buses were only minutes apart and if you missed one, another one pulled right in behind it.
I heard a good little joke at Epcot. One of the boat captains (Well, he was dressed like a captain.) asked if anybody knew how many employees worked at Epcot. Nobody knew, so he told us. About 10%. Howard
