I agree (the show's before my time but I've seen reruns). The first movie was a complete sell-out of the show and the second wasn't much better.

The third movie still isn't a proper adaptation of the TV show, but it is a good action movie in its own right. There is one part toward the middle of the film involving a job in the Vatican that feels like it came from the show. It features the characters working together as a team and completing a job without killing anyone or letting anyone know they were even there. It's perfect.

The rest of it is James Bond stuff, but it involves more teamwork and wit than the previous two movies.
