Soothsayer: She likes gold. You find gold, give it to her - but keep track of how much you give her! Four gold coins will FINALLY pay off.
Old Man: He's lost his voice. Keep that information in mind. You will need to remember it MUCH later.
Having said that, forget about those two right now. Your primary objective at this time is to get rid of that stupid ogre.
The diamond is not the only useful item in that cave. Look for an underwater exit and you'll find something useful.
