Since you ask, I typed "bang" not so much with a purpose as a lack of attention on my part. I had MSAccess open because I was discussing a VBA syntax point by email. Part of my friend's question was about the difference between rst!FieldName and rst("FieldName") and I'd typed the word "bang" several times in my emails. I was reading the Rinkworks message board while waiting for his reply. I guess I explained the "bang" rather than just substituting "exclamation point" because I'd been in an explaining state of mind.
For what it's worth, I think I was wrong to call it a bang in the first place, because in the post to which I was replying the "!" was being used as punctuation rather than VBA syntax.
