Howard and better half have returned from Florida. The scooter has been delivered to the restorer in Vero Beach. We went to the scene of the crime in Fort Pierce. (That's where I spent my teen years 1948-1951. Hmmmm. That wasn't all of my teen years. Only the best.) Fort Pierce is too big now. They have too much traffic, but it's still looks like a fun place. Great beaches. The fish still bite along the jetties on both sides of the channel. Sun rises and sun sets are still spectacular. The sand is soft and the sun is warm. All the places we lived are now parking lots and auto parts stores and the old hang outs are all gone. (Except for Higgs Drive-In which is still there under another name.) It wouldn't be safe to ride a scooter or a bicycle in today's traffic. There was a big Big BIG B I G biker meet in the area somewhere. Large motorcycles were like ants from Ft. Pierce to Jacksonville to Waycross, Ga. We even saw a few million of them in Orlando.
The Kennedy Space Flight Center is worth the trip. We haven't been there since the 60's. We also saw Epcot for the first time. Nice, but too expensive. We went home by way of Georgia where gas is once again under a dollar at the cut-rate stations. We drove more than a thousand miles. Would it surprise you if I said a Toyota pickup rides better with a scooter in the back? It really does. And I blew the carbon out of it, so now it runs better.
So what's been happening on RW? I found a full page of unread posts under "Recent Messages!" Howard
