If I had been capable of (and by "capable" I mean emotionally ready to handle the responsibility and rigors of) doing something useful or productive in college, I wouldn't have ended up with an English degree.

Thankfully, this computer thing sort of fell in my lap and I ran with it, so I didn't have to spend my life asking people if they would like to super-size their meal.

As for Stephen's question about what an English degree might actually prepare one for, I'd like to point out that at UNH, the journalism courses were part of the English major, not Communications or a seperate entity all their own like many other places. So if I'd chosen to take mostly journalism classes rather than crap like "16th Century British Novels", I would have ended up (possibly) prepared to do *his* job! But those journalism courses looked way too objective. Everyone knows in Lit classes, all you gotta do is figure out the biases of your professor and parrot them back at him/her in your papers, and you're golden. It's a game I didn't figure out until I got about halfway through college, but once I did, suddenly my "studies" were a breeze!
