No offense, but you're not really qualified to talk about great burgers if you haven't at least heard of In-N-Out.
In-N-Out, along with Steak-and-Shake and White Castle (possibly also Fatburger, though having eaten at Fatburger a few times I'm not impressed), is one of the nation's most loved regional hamburger chains.
The chain makes fantastic hamburgers and that's about it. In-N-Out will not sell you much aside from a hamburger, fries or a drink (you can get a grilled cheese if you want). In-N-Out only uses fresh -- no frozen -- ingredients. It's been around as long as fast food and claims to have invented the modern drive-thru.
In addition to the great food, In-N-Out is loved for a number of reasons, including a "secret menu" and the fact that they'll make you a hamburger as big as you'd like. Unfortunately for most of the world, In-N-Out only exists in California, Nevada and Arizona. See the Wikipedia link for more info.
