Have you tried baby shampoo? With an irritated scalp, I found baby shampoo to be wonderful.

I'm happy to see you finally get some treatment. With all the other bullcrap you're going through (knowing you have cancer is extremely difficult without having to wait so long to figure out what to do about it), you deserve to start getting better.
