They're still saying "lose", it's just that in the written language, "lose" and "loose" are becoming homonyms in certain circumstances, while in other (arguably MORE CORRECT) circumstances, "loose" still sounds like it normally does, and means "not tight".

You go into the supermarket and see signs like "can corn," or look on a restaurant menu and see "bake potato." Didn't that used to be "canned corn" and "baked potato?"

I also see yard sale tags marked 10$ or 1$.
