Big snow in Tennessee posted by Howard on Sunday, February 5, 2006, at 12:46:07:
> A strong cold front moved through Tennessee yesterday evening and deposited almost two millimeters of snow on our deck. This is the heaviest snowfall of the current winter and almost ties the deepest accumulation of the century. In 2001 we had a full three millimeters, but like this one, it melted off shortly after sunrise. > > Tennessee drivers are getting better. There were no weather related accidents reported in this area. > > Shopping malls were packed with shoppers stocking up on winter storm supplies. Rock salt was selling at a record pace and people were buying generators, bottled water, snow shovels, gasoline stoves, and packaged food in large quantities. > > Highway departments responded to the emergency by applying salt to all road ways, using the standard formula of one inch of salt for each millimeter of snow. > > FEMA is rushing in with emergency supplies and personel. Arrival is expected sometime in April or May. Meanwhile, I-75 is clogged with Tennesseans enroute to Florida. > > Stay tuned for updates as this emergency situation unfolds. > Howard
LOL! That is just too hilarious! Reminds me of that one time I saw snow in Florida. It never even touched the ground, and it was so microscopically light that somebody had to actually point it out to me, even though I was outside at the time.
