Here in Colorado, and for that matter, every other place I've lived, flashing headlights in the daytime is always a courtesy warning of something. It's usually a speed trap, although it can occasionally mean a deer on the road. It serves a much needed function, because in most parts of the West, distances are so vast that the faster you go, the better, and speeding is considered almost a Constitutional right.

I agree. I've been driving a long time and have seen this warning many times. It can be an accident, animals in the road, a fallen tree, high water, black ice, or a cop with a radar gun.

I appreciate the warnings and often give them myself, but not always when it's the cop. I limit that to areas where the speed limits are unreasonably low and the cop is out collecting money for the local coffers.

Frankly, I am all for stopping speeders. I just drove I-75 from near Atlanta to near Knoxville, about 160 miles, and about half of the vehicles were traveling 10 to 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. I set my cruise on 70, the limit, and then watched the rear view mirrors. I made it home safely this time.
