What else can make me ill?

Well, it seems I have the ability to confound the medical profession. Two weekends ago, I went for an MRI scan as a prelim to surgery on my thyroid cancer. The docs talked to me last Wednesday and told me they had found a tumour in my brain. This, apparently, is an event unique in the experience of all their years of treating thyroid cancer. So I have been referred to the Royal Marsden Hospital in London, the primary cancer care and research facility in the UK. I go there this Wednesday to be rescanned all over, poked and prodded. They aim to find out if the thyroid really is the cause or just an elaborate red herring. Depending on what they find, I may yet be referred back to the local hospital for surgery. It's also possible I may be admitted to the Marsden and have all treatment there.

I'm just glad I'm off work for the duration. Also glad for having a very understanding boss.
