Boy it was really warm in Tennessee yesterday! [How warm was it?] It was so warm, I got out that little orange 1951 Cushman motor scooter that I bought just a couple of months ago and went for a ride. Like most 55-year-old vehicles, it isn't perfect. The carburetor needs adjustment and maybe one small repair, but it runs.

The repair will probably be replacement of the float valve. When I open the fuel valve under the gas tank, gasoline begins to run out of that old carburetor. But when it starts, the flow stops and won't flow again until I turn it off. By then, the engine is hot and danger of fire rises sharply. So I usually just turn off the fuel valve and wait for the carburetor to run dry. In a minute or two the engine stops and there isn't even a drip. Safety first.
