GOA: need a horse-help!

I seem to be totally stuck - nothing's helping. Inventory as follows:

8 Bronze Coins
Guard's Sword
Tinderbox
Clear Focus Stone
Map

10 Red Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Torch
Piece of Trash
Magnifying Glass

13 Black Gemstones
Food Rations
Wire Clippers
Crate
Picture

6 Apples
Rope
Key of Opening
Hammer
Ring

Can't afford it, can't seem to find another way to get coins, can't seem to find another path to explore or other options at places I've been that work.

I hope it's just something obvious I'm missing - thanks for any help with this!
