More help please with EFSM

Inventory: Time Machine
Bottle Cap
Glasses
Mop-Head
Wire
Batteries
Chain
Grass
Perma-Tie
Blue Paint
Coffee Filter
Leaf
Scalpel
Bottle
Demerit
Mirror
Slip of Paper

I am still stuck in the past, I think I have explored everywhere I can, but I can't find anything that will stop my leaf from disintegrating when I wash it. Have I missed something I should have got earlier before travelling back in time? I have 'jimmied' open the window.
