I also use all three methods; but for me, the style that I use depends on the context:

Counterclockwise (3 o'clock to 11 o'clock): The person in front of me just acted like a goofball (reserved for close friends and family members - but mostly family members).

Clockwise (11 o'clock to 5 o'clock): An expression of cynicism (reserved mostly for politicians) or pseudo-cynicism (reserved mostly for Nyperold's puns).

Straight Up: TEOTWAWKI. (It's usually not that bad, but I do like to exaggerate on occasion.)
