We are inviting all of our friends and relatives to our 50th anniversary party, and I am sure as heck not going to leave out my RinkWorks friends. Let me say right now that I am not making this up.
The party will be 1:00 to 3:00 pm on January 1, 2006, in Lenoir City, Tennessee. I know the citizens of RinkWorksVille are widely scattered and cannot be expected to travel great distances just for a tea and cookies affair. But you never know who might be traveling I-75 or I-40 and might just happen to be passing our exit at just the right time. So you are invited.
The exact location is sort of a joke. We got married on Dec. 30, 1955 in the Chapel of a funeral home across the street from Middle Tennessee State College. So our whacky kids decided it would be a hoot to have the party in a funeral home. The old chapel has burned down and we all live 150 miles to the east anyway, so they chose the Click/Hawkins Mortuary on A Street, just half a block off Broadway in Lenoir City, Tennessee.
Even funnier is the fact that the building was a livery stable back in horse and buggy days. It has been remodeled several times since then and smells just fine. Maybe even a little flowery.
I know that everybody in this situation says that they are ready for another 50 years, but I think 40 will be enough.
I will be wearing a tie, but otherwise this will be a very informal get-together, and we have requested no gifts, unless they are motor scooter parts. OK. . . . , I threw that last part in on a whim. Howard
