I can't explain this, but for some reason, the food is better in California than anywhere. It makes little difference what kind of food you like, they do it a little better. My favorites are Mexican, Italian, and Chinese, all of them are done to prefection in California.

I like to eat German food in Morro Bay at the Hauf Brau on the Embarcadero. I know I am spelling all of that wrong. I like the Mexican food in San Diego and the Chinese in San Jose. Italian food seems to be consistantly good everywhere, but I remember eating the best spaghetti in my life somewhere in Santa Barbara.

We spent a few days on Catalina (Santa Catalina, famous in song and story) and on the third day, my wife said, "Do you realize that you have ordered Mexican food at every meal since we got here?" The truth is that I had not noticed. I was just ordering whatever sounded good.

Now I am absolutely dying to go to California.
