This is a standard science problem. It has been used in elementary schools, high schools and colleges. I would suggest trying something not quite so logical as tissue or cotton. Experiment with marbles, BB's, or maybe small eggs surrounding the subject egg. Try some liquids or jells. You will fail more than you will succeed. The messes you make will teach you more than any successful experiment.

I think the modern term for this is "thinking outside the box." Let's face it: We learn more from failures than successes.
