Confess. That was an old saying that you just made up on the spur of the moment, wasn't it?
The only rule that I can remember was from a time when everybody used natural trees. We had to take them down before New Years Eve. Do you want to know why? I'm going to tell you anyway. It was because we used them to build the neighborhood bonfire that we torched at midnight on New Years Eve. It remains one of my most vivid childhood memories.
Think about it. 40 or 50 dry cedar and pine trees piled up 25 feet high. It made a flame like the exhaust of a Saturn 5. Howard
