We went to Gatlinburg yesterday. Not as tourists, but just to see our grandchildren. We drove up via Wears Valley and Pigeon Forge, and would you believe that in those locations, Christmas is in full swing?

On the way home, we took the route through Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was a dark, rainy afternoon and the Christmas lights were blazing in Gatlinburg.

In the mountains, the rain increased, but I always enjoy driving there in the rain. Wet vegetation and water trickling off the rocks can be beautiful. Traffic was light. We came down the Little River Valley and left the park at Townsend. Then we came home through Maryville and across Fort Loudoun Dam. It was a nice trip.
