Parents are naturally protective. Too much is better that too little, but when you are 12 or even 14 it seems like they over do it. It's been a long time since I was your age, but I have a good memory.

If I had a chance to go back and re-live five years of my life, it would be 14 to 19. I was broke most of those years, but even with no money, I had a great time. Fortunately, my father could remember when he was 14. By the time I was 16, and had a driver's license, he seemed to worry more. I think it was because he was 16 when he turned the family car upside down and six of his friends were with him. He was injured worse than any of the others, but he got over it. Just for the record, let me mention that I never wrecked the family car.

Those really were the good old days.
