My mom likes to tell the story about when she was in high school and had a chemistry teacher who assigned her a 20-page paper on coal dyes or something. There were only two pages about it in the encyclopedia (and this was, of course, LONG before the days of the Internet). She'd heard that he only read the first and last pages of the papers.

So... she copied the first page out of the encyclopedia, and the last page out of the encyclopedia, and on the eighteen pages in between she wrote the "Hail Mary" over and over again. She got an A.
