The book is by far the darkest of the series, and it's a great story choice for doing what the producers say they want to do -- take Bond back to his roots and build it all up again.

This is certainly interesting to hear. I've read Casino Royale, Live and let die, Moonraker and Octopussy and the Living daylights, and liked them all very much. I'm very interested in seeing film adaptions of them. (As you all know, some of the films with the same names have little to do with the books.)

IMHO Ian Fleming was the best Bond writer but some other writers have good books too. But they won't probably ever be made into films.
