That's kind of like wondering why Gary Larson didn't produce greater art than Leonardo da Vinci. This is not to scoff at Gary Larson -- it's just that "greatest" and "funniest" are apples and oranges. The first "Apple Dumpling Gang" movie has its charms, and it was one of my favorite movies as a kid. But the sequel is terrible by any standard.
