GOA: How do I beat the smoke dragon in the caves?

I realy can't figure out how I must beat the dragon in the caves...
I know I must run south to the chasm and I'm supposed to beat
him there but it just don't work...
When I run south, i must dodge the attack of the dragon, then I
can attack and I can hurt his claw, but then I must dodge again
and I can't do anyother moves exept dodging and run away...
Here is my inventory:
60 Gold Coins
Stone of Strengthening
Bucket
Key of Opening
Magic Armor of Magic
Food Rations
Rope
Portrait
Guard's Sword
Dead Fish
Wire Clippers
Crate
