Thanks for the compliments. And yeah, gamer is the right term (though "obsessed geek" works just as well).
As for being embarrassed about not seeing something obvious, ask Sam about that last puzzle (which I think I've mentioned several times tonight). For all my experience with these games, I can't believe I didn't see that. Argh!

No problem. I am an obsessed geek, and I enjoy writing about games. This helped me organize my thoughts on the subject as well, so it'll probably help me the next game I play anyway...
Oh, here we go, a quick addendum to my guide that I just came up with:
Trying every option also means trying things more than once. Sometimes the text will give you a clue that a repeated action will be helpful, other times you just have to think that, logically, doing something many times would give you a different result. If you're really stuck, this is a great idea to try...
