Four showers, twelve flushes, one load of dishes, and one load of laundry surely wouldn't reach half this amount, would it, and where would the second half come from? > > My theory is that this is about a particular Canadian family of four with unusually leaky faucets.
Only a few slightly leaky faucets can easily double your water bill. They work at it 24 hours a day. Other theories: They have teenagers*. They water the garden, the flowers, and the animals. They have a swimming pool, and change the water each time they use it. They live in a castle with a moat. Howard *Teenagers sometimes wash their hair a lot. They generate tons of dirty laundry, and leave the hose running the entire time they are washing a car.
