This thread isn't directly about the existence of the Christian God (or any other deity, for that matter), nor do I have any strong desire to make it so, but my understanding is that knivetsil is struggling with the choice between theism and atheism. A core consideration for that choice has to be, on some level anyway, "Does God exist?"

That's a timeless question, of course. From what I've read in this thread, you are of the opinion that if knivetsil is or ever was a true Christian, he already knows the answer to that question, and just needs to find out why he's currently denying it. On the other hand, those of us who are atheists or at least lean that way concede that the question is unanswerable in any scientific way, but that there are many arguments often used to try to answer the question or at least convince someone to believe one way or the other in the absence of specific evidence.

The question itself, however, is lurking at the core of any theism vs atheism debate, whether the participants want to address it directly or not.
